The workshop:

This one-day intensive workshop will introduce writers to the language and format of screenwriting, giving you the basic tools and information you need to write a screenplay. The day is part lecture, part workshop/seminar, culminating in a fun pitching session.

We will be covering:

  • Format – why is it so important?
  • Story Structure and planning - How Save the Cat can save your script,
  • What is and how to, write a treatment, and finally,
  • Live! The pitch and how to do it.

We will walk you through the process of getting your screenplay idea out of your head and onto the printed page, show you how to format your screenplay to make it readable and well paced. Help you define your story’s characters, obstacles, and scope; understand the importance of each of the three acts in a traditional narrative structure; and discover how to build tension and reveal key plot points.

There will be lots of opportunities for you to ask questions and discuss your ideas during the workshop sessions.
