Remote Access

Support for writers living and working on small islands and in remote areas

mapEmergents Creatives and the XpoNorth (Writing & Publishing) programme works to ensure that all of its services are as accessible as possible to writers and publishers living and working in the region.

We are aware that not all of those who wish to physically access our in-person events are able told so due to travel and other costs. It is also not possible for us to deliver in-person events to every inhabited island. We do distribute our events across the region and work to provide as fair a timetable of activities as our resources and opportunities can provide.

Our services in mentoring, critical assessment (Work In Progress), 1-2-1 advice and support, grants and bursaries, and marketing support are fully accessible to those with internet and/or phone access. Please see our writing menu (above) to access those services.

In addition, we are very pleased to be able to over a range of on-line courses with priority being given, and in accordance with our general criteria for service provision, to writers living and working in island communities and in mainland remote areas not reasonably accessible to our programme of in-person seminars and workshops.

At present (October 2015, join our newsletter (see below) for updates) we are are offering the following online course to writers living in remote are and in island communities:

Creative Freedom – A Step-by-Step Guide to Making a Living With Your Writing by Joanna Penn

The Creative Freedom Course is designed to take you step by step through the roadmap to making a living with your writing, based on Joanna’s own journey of doing exactly that.

Creative Freedom is about empowering you as the creative and giving you the tools and skills necessary to make a living with your writing.

Joanna Penn is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of thrillers as J.F.Penn, as well as bestselling non-fiction for authors.

She is also an entrepreneur, earning a six figure income from her writing through book sales in multiple formats on multiple stores, selling in 68 countries and four languages. She receives income through my blog, from affiliate and course sales, professional speaking and sponsorship.

In 2011, Joanna left her day job to become a full-time author entrepreneur, and in 2015, she hired her husband out of his corporate job to help run the business.

Joanna is an independent (indie) author, choosing to work with other creative professionals and go direct to her readers. You don’t need a publisher in this digital age to sell your books to a global market, you just need the right information to learn how to do it yourself.

This course is delivered over 15 hours, in multiple sessions that can be accessed at your pace. To access the course you’ll need reasonable internet access.

If you would like to be considered for a place on this course (we have 10 places currently available) please e-mail Peter Urpeth – [email protected] – to discuss your work and suitability for the course.

Our main criteria for selection, in addition to your living and working locality, is that you are are committed to complete the course, and to work hard to achieve results, and to develop your work for commercial outcomes and growth.

This course is free of charge for the selected participants.
