XPONORTH SECTOR SUPPORT PROGRAMMES

XpoNorth has announced details of a new dedicated 121 sector support service which is available to businesses and individuals based in the Highlands and Islands in the areas of Screen and Broadcast/ Craft, Fashion and Textiles/ Writing and Publishing/ Digital & Technology and Music.

This support is completely free to access and will be tailored around the specific requirements of your business. These programmes will be delivered by a range of passionate sector specialists with extensive experience producing support programmes for creative businesses across the Highlands and Islands.

Meet the Sector Team

Pamela ConacherFashionCrafts and Textiles

Pamela has over 30 years experience supporting the development of creative careers throughout the Highlands and Islands and beyond. Across her previous posts with Hi~Arts and as Director of Emergents, she has worked with a wide range of organisations, businesses and individuals. Her skills and knowledge nurture creative talent and businesses through general and specific support, mentoring, training, specialist advice, networking, project development and consultancy. She is passionate about developing creative talent and believes in the sustainability of rural communities through a strong and professional creative economy.

 

Kate HooperScreen and Broadcast

Former Senior Producer, Kate worked for the BBC for over a decade producing a wealth of high quality programmes and content. She has worked extensively across broadcast, online and print. Kate has been involved in the production of XpoNorth for a number of years and lives and works in in the Highlands where she grew-up.

 

Peter UrpethWriting and Publishing

Peter has developed and delivered writing and talent development programmes in the creative industries for the last 15 years, with a background in journalism, newspapers, magazines, cross-media projects and fiction. He is a former newspaper Editor and Founding Editor and is the co-founder and Director of Emergents Creatives. Peter has extensive experience nurturing creative enterprise and talent across the Highlands and Islands and is also a talented musician working in radical and alternative genres of music.

 

Alex SmithMusic

Alex is the former Music Producer for XpoNorth (previously goNORTH); the conference has attracted some of the most influential industry representatives, produced cooperations with a cross-reach of national and international industry associations and organisations and showcased some of the most exciting acts to have emerged from the Scottish scene in recent years. He also project managed XpoNorth Music, a dynamic support structure for music businesses based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Along with the project’s business development remit, XpoNorth Music also produced stages at a host of Scottish festivals and developed export opportunities at a broad range of leading global trade events. He is also a board member of The Scottish Music Industry Association and part of the team at Inverness’s music and events venue, Ironworks.
