HIE is proud to sponsor two membership places at Impact Hub Inverness during the Year of Young People 2018.

For the whole of 2018, the two successful entrepreneurs will be able to use desk space one day a week in addition to events, training and tailored business support and mentoring at Impact Hub Inverness. They will also be linked to other businesses and organisations in the area that can help them to develop their idea further. More information on what the membership includes can be found here*.

It is hoped that the successful applicants will be able to use the opportunity to give their business a head start, whilst providing benefits to local communities.

Impact Hub Inverness was set up in 2017 by social enterprise support and development agency, Highlands and Islands Social Enterprise Zone (HISEZ) and is the first of its kind in Scotland. There are over 100 Impact Hubs situated throughout the world with over 15,000 members, and their main role is to encourage, support and inspire people to make a social impact through enterprise.

The sponsorship programme is part of HIE’s role to create opportunities for young people in the region. HIE will also be supporting the Year of Young People 2018, which aims to inspire Scotland through its young people, celebrating their achievements, valuing their contribution to communities and creating new opportunities for them to shine locally, nationally and globally.

Douglas Cowan, Director of Strengthening Communities said: “This is an exciting opportunity for two young people from the region to access a wealth of practical help and advice to help make their business aspirations a reality. We would like to see a wide range of applications and welcome those who can show that social impact is an important part of their business ideas.”

Founder member of Impact Hub Inverness, Polly Chapman also commented: “We have a number of entrepreneurs from a wide range of backgrounds and a range of skills based here at the Impact Hub and we welcome this opportunity to provide support for two aspiring young entrepreneurs. We see the benefits daily of co-working, learning from each other, sharing ideas and working in a very flexible way. We know we can pass on a lot of collective skills to young people with a passion for making a social impact and look forward to working with the successful applicants.”
