Digital focus at Horizon Scotland, Forres

Posted on

Around 40 businesses and local groups came to the launch of a new digital initiative at Horizon Scotland in Moray on Thursday 28 September.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is introducing a special programme of #hellodigital events in Forres over the next six months to support enterprises to make the most of digital opportunities in how they promote and operate their business and projects.

Experts from Google Digital Garage kicked off the initiative today with a session about digital innovation. This provided hands on experience of 360 cameras, virtual reality and augmented reality.

Carol Davidson from HIE said: “We are delighted to be basing a series of #hellodigital events in Moray. HIE set up #hellodigital last year in Inverness and more than two thousand people from across the region have already gone along to sessions which show how new technology can help their projects grow.

“We want to offer Moray groups and businesses the opportunity to meet with the experts who can show them first hand how technology can be used in many different projects.”

Events coming up include a Virtual Reality Expo and a seminar on video making. The next is a Digital Heritage workshop at the Alexander Graham Bell Centre in October. It will looks at how digital technologies can play a part in heritage – whether by creating interactive experiences for visitors on historic sites, or by recreating scenes in virtual reality.

Experts will deliver each event, helping explore current trends, and looking at how on-line behaviour is set to change. The aim is to help keep pace with technologies that are quickly becoming widely adopted and to take advantage of the opportunities they present for your business.

April will be bringing demonstration technology around the Highlands and Islands Area including Virtual Reality (VR) kit, Augmented Reality (AR) demos and some 360 cameras.
