Background:
Emergents makers, through funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, will be taking a stand at
CRAFT, a new trade show that aims to exhibit the very best of British and International Craftsmanship.
Running alongside the established shows, Top Drawer and Room, CRAFT is run by Piyush Suri, Founder and Director of Handmade in Britain with close support from Ian Rudge, Development Director at Clarion Events and Co-Founder of 100% Design and Tent, CRAFT has been created in response from increasing demand from retailers searching for high quality products.

This is a fantastic opportunity to promote your work to a national and international audience and we are seeking 6 designer makers to showcase their work with us. In addition we are offering two trainee places for emerging makers to gain experience and promotion.
The media partner for the event is Craft magazine http://www.craftscouncil.org.uk/crafts-magazine/ and as well as individual makers stands several craft and design organisations will present work from their members. These include, Craft Northern Island, Design Factory, Design Gap and Ateliers D’Art De France

We are seeking 6 designer makers working in a range of craft mediums, including: Textiles, jewellery, glass, ceramics, basketry, wood, metal and mixed media.
Applicants should be:
- Established in business for a minimum of 2 years and working at a professional level in the Highlands and Islands and seeking to develop both international and national markets.
- Have the capacity to deal with trade orders.
- Be willing to attend the event and run the stand on a rota basis.
- Ideally, have experience of participating in a trade show. However, some training will be given prior to the event so this is not essential.
- In addition, we are offering 2 trainee places for emerging makers to assist with this event to gain experience and promotion. Trainees will be within the first 2 years of setting up their business and have not exhibited at a trade show. Trainees will be offered 2 places to showcase their work on the stand and be awarded a travel bursary to attend the show.
HIE and emergents will provide the stand costs, related branding and some travel costs.
Successful applicants will be required to cover their accommodation ,living costs and travel over and above the awarded amount.
Set up will take place on 11th January 2014 and it is hoped that take down will be on the evening of the 14th January 2014.
Stand design will be undertaken by a small team selected from the successful applicants with assistance from emergents.
